Cleaning Tips
The COVID-19
pandemic is forcing people to stay at home for indefinite
periods of time in order to protect their health. Though quarantine is
extremely necessary, it can become extremely boring and cause feelings of
anxiousness as nobody can get out of the house or live their normal everyday
lives. Since quarantine is here to last for at least a little while, it’s
important to make sure that you keep yourself busy so you can avoid feelings of
anxiousness and stress while stuck at home.
After watching hours of TV, reading
various books, and doing countless puzzles, you may not know what to do next in
order to occupy yourself while in quarantine- what about some spring
cleaning?!
Take
Advantage of Quarantine
Spring cleaning is something that
most adults put off or may never do as it is a tedious, time consuming, and
boring task; however it is necessary. With that being said, quarantine is the
perfect time to finally get around to spring cleaning and get your home in
tip-top shape. Here are some ways that you can take advantage of quarantine and
begin spring cleaning.
Clean
Out Your Closets and Garage
Closets are one of the places in
your home that are probably filled with things that you don’t need. Oftentimes,
people will throw things that don’t have a place in their home into a closet,
and overtime, that closet will become cluttered and disorganized. Does this
sound familiar? Now is the perfect time to finally go through those closets and
get rid of things you don’t need or don’t want. Whether it is your bedroom
closet or your hallway closet, quarantine is the perfect time to clean it
out.
Garages are similar to closets, they often are
filled with things that people don’t know where else to put. Use this time at
home to purge your garage and make it an organized and clean space for your
things.
Rearrange Your Space and Clean While You Do It
Rearranging your
home is something that takes time but also leaves your home looking organized
and fresh, while also providing you with feelings of ease. Quarantine is a
great time to rearrange your home, as it is a task that takes a good amount of
time. Whether you are rearranging one room, or your entire home, rearranging
your space will give you something to do and will leave you feeling
accomplished during the quarantine.
As you rearrange your space, clean your home as
well. Polish the furniture you’re moving, dust under the couch after you have
moved it, touch up the paint on the baseboards to make it look clean, do all
that you can to get the most out of your newly arranged space.
Tidy Up Your Kitchen
Tidying up your kitchen is something that you or the whole family can do
as it is easy doesn’t require any physical labor. A specialist that deals
with in-home care for seniors pointed out
that cleaning out the kitchen is a DIY task that people who live with elderly
relatives should do together. Seniors are especially having a hard time being
stuck at home as there is very little that they can do around the house;
however, asking seniors for assistance while cleaning out the kitchen is
something that will occupy them as well as make them feel like they are
contributing to your spring cleaning efforts.
Use the Quarantine to Create a Better, Cleaner Home
Practicing social distancing and being forced to stay at home is not ideal
for anyone, in fact, for some people it is extremely stressful. However, as the
COVID-19 pandemic proves to be sticking around for the spring and summer
months, it’s important that you make the most out of your quarantine. Spring
cleaning is a great way to spend your quarantine, as it will benefit the
appearance of your home and will leave you feeling like you did something great
while stuck at home.
